Come and meet the team ....
Senior Pastors: Ps Stewart and Marilyn McLellan
Marilyn and I have been Pastors at Christchurch North Elim Church since November 2000. We have two adult children and six grandsons. Our dream is to see all people passionately in love with Jesus and sharp and confident in using their spiritual gift/s. We love discipleship and seeing people come to know Jesus personally and then grow in their relationship with Him. We consider it a privilege to lead an awesome congregation who are growing to touch our community, our city, our nation, our world.
Assistant Pastor: Mary Ponder
I am been married for 40 years to my wonderful husband Keith and still am! I have 3 adult sons and along with my gorgeous daughter in laws we get to love and appreciated our 11 wonderful grandchildren. I have been a Christian for 51 years and over the last 30 odd years have been in some form of ministry from small groups, counselling, teaching, training, preaching and pastoring. I have recently had a couple of years rest from ministry but now the Lord has called me back with a whole new hunger and passion for His presence. He has set a fire in me to call the body of Christ into a deeper relationship with him and to see them released into God’s plan and purpose for their life. I am so excited to be part of what the Lord is doing in our awesome church and can’t wait to see what He does next!
Administration: Tracey Kilpatrick
I have been a member of our congregation for around 18 years, and have had the privilege of being Church administrator here for the last eight years. It is a real joy to be able to work in a fantastic community alongside such a wonderful Church family. I have been a member of the Church worship team for many years, and love being able to help people find that place to really Worship God – so much healing (emotional, spiritual, and physical) can come in that place of total worship and surrender before God. I'm excited for what God has in store for Christchurch North Elim in the years to come!!!
Missions Director: Godfrey Gray
"No one has the right to hear the gospel twice, while there remains someone who has not heard it once." -- Oswald J. Smith.
I first heard this quote in my childhood, and it has remained with me ever since. As part of the Christchurch North Elim Oversight Team, my focus is on Church missions and the mobilisation of our people to broaden their outlook, and to discover their calling for service in the Body of Christ worldwide, of which our church is a part. After several years of involvement with teams and mission activities in our focus country, Thailand, I have a passion to see Thai Buddhists have an opportunity to hear about following Jesus. To help our mission partners in Thailand, I promote awareness of mission activities within our church, and help to train people who are interested in service on the mission field.
Team Member: Melinda Joss
Hi my name is Melinda Joss; I have been attending Christchurch North Elim for around 16 years now, during this time I have seen many changes but one thing has always remained the same, and that is the feeling of warmth, and welcoming in our church congregation. I have two primary school aged children, and have had the privilege of seeing them as they have learned and grown up in faith within our church family. My passion is to see people from all different walks of life, ages and experiences coming together to connect with God in a real way, to find his hand on all life’s situations and to have the ability stand firm on a strong foundation faith.
Church Elder: Jean Taylor
My name is Jean Taylor, I have been a widow for 6 years and have been waiting for God to show me what I should be doing for Him. So I was very honoured to be asked to consider being an Elder for the Christchurch North Elim Church. I was saved early in the 1970’s and baptised in the Holy Spirit in 1976 while in the Anglican Church in Takaka where we owned and ran a dairy farm. In 1980 God spoke to us about attending Bible College of New Zealand. As a family ( we have 4 now grown adult children and 8 grandchildren) we went to Auckland in 1981 for one year but ended up staying for 3 years. 3 very rich international, interdenominational years. Our first ministry position was to Hornby Anglican Parish where one man was heard to say “we got 6 for the price of one’' as the children got involved in various ways. At the end of 1988 God again spoke into our lives in a specific way and we moved into the Elim Church. We have pastored Churches in Christchurch and Nelson. After ‘retiring’ we lived and travelled in a converted Hino rainbow bus, and have been known to park in Christchurch North Elim Church car park. Now I look forward to being in ministry again as an Elder. I will enjoy supporting Stewart and Marilyn as they minister to this wonderful, friendly congregation.
